CNG Fueling Stations
Blue Energy Fuels (BEF) has CNG fueling station construction down to a science. We’ve done over 500 installs in over twenty-five countries. From design to certified construction drawings, from concrete to electrical and plumbing BEF can handle it all. Since BEF through its manufacturing partners build over 90% of all the equipment right here in Oklahoma, putting the right equipment in the right spot to maximize efficiency is part of the job.
Let’s be real honest, there is nothing magical or radically different about building CNG fueling stations. The concrete, electrical and plumbing are very straight forward. The creativity is in placing the equipment so that the station functions at maximum efficiency. Even the length of the gas pipeline from the storage vessels to the dispenser can have a significant effect on station operation.
The basic steps are as follows:
• Determine the amount of gas that will be needed for your fleet
or prospective retail customers.
• Size the equipment to meet the demand.
• Do a preliminary site plan for all parties to review.
• Review any special building ordinances that pertain to the site.
• Finalize the construction drawings.
• Finalize the budget.
• Gain approval from the local government and a construction
permit.
• Begin construction.
As simple as this looks, there is a considerable amount of research into the local building codes that needs to be done. Plus most cities require several meetings with city engineers, the code department, the fire marshal and possibly the planning commission. BEF has been there and done that, over 500 times. BEF plays by the rules, we never ask a city for special favors or to skimp on any rules. This builds a strong partnership with you (the client) the city and BEF, this partnership goes a long way in building the best CNG fueling station possible.
